The Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC) headed by Aboitiz Group President and CEO Sabin Aboitiz has hit the ground running since President Bongbong Marcos requested for its formation last month in order to help strengthen collaboration between the public and private sectors.
Regular meetings between PSAC and the President have already begun with the Agriculture and Digital Infrastructure sector groups where they discussed initial recommendations for the first 100 days of the administration.
The Agriculture group — headed by Aileen Uygongco-Ongkauko of La Filipina Uy Gongco and composed of industry leaders Chris Po of the Century Group, Francisco Tiu Laurel, Jr. of Frabelle, Irwin Lee of Universal Robina, and Ramon T. Lim of RNCL Prime Holdings Corporation — indicated that their focus for the short term will be on immediately helping to address food security issues related to increasing productivity for farmers and closing supply chain gaps.
The Digital Infrastructure group — headed by Union Bank of the Philippines Chief Transformation Officer Henry Aguda and composed of Dennis Uy of Converge, Al Panlilio of PLDT, Ernest Cu of Globe Telecom, and Ramon Jocson of the Bank of the Philippine Islands — will be initially focusing on a nationwide expansion of access to internet connectivity and digitalization initiatives.
The council is expected to reveal more of its members in the coming weeks after the other sectoral groups on Health, Jobs, and Infrastructure/Tourism meet with the President to present their work plans and recommendations.
