The Caloocan City government, through the Caloocan City Social Development Department, has started distributing rice packs for registered solo parents in the City of Caloocan.
According to CCSWDD Action Officer Roberto Quizon, the said distribution aims to assist solo parents amid the crisis, as they are identified as one of the vulnerable sectors of the community.
“Inatas sa atin ni Mayor Along na bigyan ng karagdagang benepisyo ang mga senior citizens dahil bahagi sila ng tinatawag na vulnerable groups na higit na naapektuhan ng krisis na dulot ng pandemya,” he said.
In line with this, CCSWDD also discussed the provisions of RA 11861 otherwise known as the Expanded Solo Parents Welfare Act which provides benefits for solo parents including automatic coverage in the National Health Insurance Program and prioritization in the workforce and other poverty alleviation programs of the government.
Caloocan City Mayor Along Malapitan likewise assured solo parents in Caloocan that the local government shall provide continuous free trainings and livelihood programs for their sector.
