DAVAO CITY — The First Congressional District here has launched its “Brigada Eskwela” recently as the office aims to back educators in the quest to raise the students’ competency levels and promote innovation.
First District Representative Paolo Duterte, in a statement read by his son Rodrigo Duterte II, said that “with education and a strong drive to improve our way of life, I believe we can change the world.”
The kickoff — which was done at the Apolinario Mabini Elementary School in Bangkal here — is in line with the Department of Education’s (DepEd) program 2022 Brigada Eskwela with the theme “Brigada Eskwela: Tugon sa Hamon ng Ligtas na Balik-Aral” and will run until 26 August 2022.
The Brigada Eskwela, also known as the National Schools’ Maintenance Weeks, aims to bring together all education stakeholders to partake and contribute their time, effort, and resources to prepare public school facilities to be ready and safe for the opening of the school year on 22 August.
Duterte also commended DepEd-Davao regional director Allan Farnazo and the entire education leadership for spearheading the 2022 school year through this event to encourage everyone to rally behind everyone’s effort to provide the best education for students.
The First District congressman also lauded President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. and Vice President Sara Z. Duterte, who repeatedly emphasized the importance of making the learners ready for the outside world.
Meantime, the DepEd stressed that no fees will be collected from parents or solicited from other volunteers during the conduct of this year’s Brigada Eskwela.
“School heads are reminded that in the implementation of 2022 Brigada Eskwela, no fee shall be collected from parents/guardians or solicited from other volunteers and stakeholders, based on DepEd Order No. 062, s. 2022,” the DepEd said.
