Ashton Kutcher went blind and deaf in 2020 and fortunately recovered, he revealed in a clip for a National Geographic show.
“Two years ago, I had this weird, super rare form of vasculitis, that like knocked out my vision, it knocked out my hearing, it knocked out like all my equilibrium… It took me a year to build it all back up,” the 44-year-old actor was quoted in a teaser of an episode of National Geographic’s Running Wild with Bear Grylls: The Challenge, obtained by Access Hollywood.
Vasculitis is the inflammation of the blood vessels.
“Inflammation is the immune system’s natural response to injury or infection. It causes swelling and can help the body deal with invading germs,” says England’s National Health Service website.
“But in vasculitis, for some reason the immune system attacks healthy blood vessels, causing them to become swollen and narrow.
“This may be triggered by an infection or medicine, although often the cause is unknown.
“Vasculitis can range from a minor problem that just affects the skin, to a more serious illness that causes problems with organs like the heart or kidneys.”
