The Department of Health (DOH) on Thursday, 11 August said that the 10 close contacts of the first monkeypox virus case in the country are still under quarantine.
“The 10 close contacts of the patient are still undergoing the required quarantine period and have remained asymptomatic,” the DOH said in a statement.
Earlier, DOH announced that the country’s first case of monkeypox has recovered from the viral disease, after completing the required isolation period.
“The patient has recovered, and was cleared by their physician to be discharged from isolation,” the DOH said.
The country reported its first case of monkeypox last 29 July. The patient is a 31-year-old Filipino who arrived from abroad on July 19.
He tested positive for the highly-infectious disease on 28 July.
To date, DOH said that there has been no new case of monkeypox in the country.
