BAGUIO CITY — The local government of Sagada in Mountain Province clarified on Wednesday that the so-called “Sagada Oranges” being sold to tourists visiting Baguio City are mislabeled.
Sagada Mayor Felicito Dula said that the oranges being labeled as “Sagada Oranges” are not from the popular tourist attraction town, adding that the mislabeled “Sagada Oranges” looks far different from the oranges the Sagada locals are planting and harvesting.
Dula stressed that there are actually six orange varieties of Sagada — the Ponkan Mandarin, Satsuma Mandarin, Valencia Orange, Hamlin Orange, Washington Navel Orange and Clementine Tangerine.
He hopes that showing the real Sagada orange will be a big help in dispelling misinformation on their orange produce as stressed that tourists and all the buyers deserve to know the real products they are buying.
