The team of Senator Christopher “Bong” Go visited Baseco, Manila City to provide immediate assistance to residents whose houses were damaged by a recent fire incident in Barangay 649.
Go sent support to the 39 affected families and gave them reassurance that the modernization of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) is well underway to help it deal with fire-related incidents faster and more efficiently.
The BFP Modernization Act of 2021, which Go primarily authored and co-sponsored, mandates the agency to undergo a 10-year modernization program, which includes the provision of specialized training, expansion of manpower, and acquisition of new and advanced fire equipment, among others.
“It is very important that we support the BFP because its mandate is very important to save lives,” Go expressed in his video message.
Go’s team distributed masks, vitamins, grocery packs and meals to the affected families at the Baseco covered court on Monday, 8 August.
Last 4 August, Go’s team also distributed aid to households hit by fire in Tayuman, Manila.
