Senator Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go is pushing for a measure that will institutionalize the provisions of the temporary employment assistance to displaced workers in rural communities.
Go filed Senate Bill 420 which seeks to help displaced workers start anew and complement the Department of Labor and Employment’s (DoLE) Tulong Panghanapbuhay sa Ating Disadvantaged/Displaced Workers (TUPAD) program.
As the lawmaker pushes for the measure, he also provided aid to underprivileged sectors at the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Building where 1,000 displaced workers were given grocery packs, masks, vitamins, shirts and meals. They also gave away mobile gadgets and shoes to select individuals.
In addition, the Department of Social Welfare and Development provided 100 individuals with financial assistance through its Sustainable Livelihood Program.
The senator also sent his team to Barangay Caniogan in Pasig City to provide assistance to fire victims in the village.
