A sampling of bite-sized Korean web dramas

K-drama fans are getting hooked on a new form of series called bite-sized web drama.

Bite-sized refers to easily “digestible” shows which one can watch like having a quick snack.

Here’s a sampling:

‘Be My Boyfriend’

Regular guy Lee Seung-min (Shin Hyun-seung) has a crush on Oh Ji-na (Lee Shi-woo), an idol trainee and the most famous girl in school. One fine day, she asks him if they can pretend to have a romantic relationship.

‘Love Playlist’

One of the most well-known Korean web dramas, Love Playlist has accessible plots, endearing characters, stunning visuals and catchy music. A group of college students goes through the highs and lows of friendship, love and adulting over the course of four seasons.

‘In Seoul’

High school student Da-mi is an avid follower of Korean idols. Her mother believes it’s a complete waste of time, which leads to heated arguments. On his own, Da-mi applies to enroll at In Seoul, a Korean-English nickname for reputable universities in Seoul.

‘A-Teen’

A-Teen made waves in 2018, with a fan base of adolescents in their second and third year of high school. This drama depicts the struggles of each character, including sibling rivalry and the contrast between the outgoing overachiever and the quiet, ordinary student.

‘One Fine Week’

Whose life would you choose to invade if you could? For seven hectic days, Daeun, a university student and part-time café employee, switches sides with Byul, an idol singer who resembles her. As they adapt to each other’s personas, they discover love in unexpected places.
