Sen. Bong Go on 12 August visited Guimbal, Iloilo, with Sen. Robin Padilla to personally extend aid to its pandemic-stricken community.
In coordination with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) and the local government, Go likewise spoke about the provision of interventions for livelihood support to qualified beneficiaries composed of vendors, agricultural workers, and micro-entrepreneurs.
The distribution activity was held at the Guimbal Municipal Gymnasium where Go’s team handed out grocery packs, masks, vitamins, meals, and shirts to the 1,448 identified beneficiaries.
In addition, they gave bicycles, phablets, shoes, watches, and balls for volleyball and basketball to select individuals.
To help the residents kickstart their livelihood, representatives from DSWD extended assistance through its Sustainable Livelihood Program.
Sen. Padilla committed to continue protecting the welfare of Filipinos, similar to Go’s approach in public service, saying, “Tandaan po ninyo, itong taong laging nakasaklolo po sa inyo, huwag niyo hong kakalimutan.
Earlier that day, Go and Padilla witnessed the groundbreaking ceremony of the San Joaquin Super Health Center and also provided assistance to 500 disadvantaged individuals, mainly composed of barangay health workers.
