Toyota backs AI center

The mobility domain is coming forward to adopt artificial intelligence (AI) solutions to optimize and reshape its future, with the Department of Trade and Industry tapping Toyota Motors Phils. to establish the Philippines’ first-ever AI center.

Trade Secretary Alfredo Pascual believes AI is one of the most powerful technologies to drive innovations in the country that will reshape the mobility frontier and optimize the potential of the economy and its capabilities.

“Mobility indeed can improve the quality of life. As cities become ‘smarter,’ new technologies like AI, sensors, and intelligent systems could be used to build solutions that make mobility more efficient and effective. Therefore, Toyota’s efforts to provide internet-based solutions that address transportation needs are valuable. Its experience in the Philippines and its quality culture are strengths Toyota can leverage toward responsive mobility solutions,” Pascual said at the inauguration of Toyota Mobility Solutions Philippines Inc. in Taguig City, Friday.

The trade chief welcomed the establishment of Toyota’s innovative manufacturing facility in the country, which complements the economic and social progress of the country.

During the occasion, Toyota Motor Corp. Asia Region chief executive officer Hao Quoc Tien announced that they had chosen the Philippines for its maiden mobility solution company in Asia, geared to become a center of excellence and mobility hub in the region.

“We envision TMSPH (Toyota Mobility Solutions Philippines Inc.) to be at the center of the new mobility ecosystem as an integrated, one-stop mobility solutions provider to help advance businesses and address local communities’ needs,” TMSPH president Ma. Cristina Fe Arevalo said.
