Geely local sales recently reached an all-time high in July, registering 1,058 units sold. This new milestone surpasses its previous highest monthly sales record of 1,036 units last March. Sojitz G Auto Philippines (SGAP), its local distributor, reported that its July sales represent a 32-percent growth over the previous month sales of 804 units.
July sales were bannered by Geely Coolray with 540 units (+92 percent vs June 2022), followed by 396 units of Okavango (+59 percent vs June 2022). Meantime, the sales of Emgrand and Azkarra were limited to 91 and 31 units for the month respectively, due to supply constraints.
For the past seven months, Geely sold a total of 5,360 units, representing +83-percent growth year-on-year, surpassing total industry growth of +15 percent to a huge extent. To top it off, Geely now ranks eighth in total industry sales with 2.8-percent market share vs 1.8 percent, the same period last year.
“We are very honored to join the four digits club (more than 1,000-unit monthly sales) that we consider as a clear testament of the customers’ trust in the Geely brand. Coolray remains to be the bestselling model in the roster of Geely vehicles. The recent introduction of the Coolray Special Edition (SE), with its sportier and distinct look, has led to more customers admiring and getting excited over it,” SGAP president and CEO Yugo Kiyofuji said.
SGAP is also optimistic that it can further capitalize on the Geely Emgrand to further boost its sales volume in the coming months given its good market acceptance in the subcompact sedan segment and ample stock supply.
From its launch last February, the Emgrand catapulted to the top four in ranking in this subcompact sedan segment with total sales of 895 units end of July.
“With better supply starting this month complemented with aggressive and really affordable financial plans from our bank partner RCBC, we expect Emgrand to further challenge the top three spot in the subcompact sedan segment,” Kiyofuji added.
