The Office of Senator Christopher “Bong” Go, in coordination with the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD), extended assistance to disadvantaged communities in Talavera, Cuyapo, and Carranglan, Nueva Ecija.
Acknowledging the hardships caused by the global health crisis, Go appealed to eligible residents to participate in the national inoculation drive and get their complete shots against COVID-19 to better safeguard themselves from the virus.
Go likewise urged the public to help the government attain population protection by encouraging other eligible Filipinos to get vaccinated, underscoring the need to raise awareness in order to address vaccine hesitancy.
“Tuluy-tuloy po ang ating pagpapabakuna ng gobyerno kaya pakiusap ko po sa inyo na magpabakuna na po kayo,” said Go in his video message during the relief activities on Thursday, 11 August.
“Hindi man natin pwedeng pilitin ang ating mga kababayang magpabakuna, bigyan natin sila ng sapat na impormasyon upang mahikayat silang gumawa ng tamang desisyon na makakabuti sa kanilang pamilya at komunidad,” he said.
Held at Talavera Municipal Gymnasium, Umali Gymnasium in Cuyapo, and TL Padilla Gymnasium in Carranglan, Go’s staff distributed meals, masks, and shirts to a total of 150 struggling residents. They also gave away bicycles, cellular phones, and shoes to select individuals.
Furthermore, a team from the DSWD provided livelihood grants through its Sustainable Livelihood Program to give the residents a chance to start a small business that may help sustain their daily needs.
“Ang SLP-LAG po na programa ng DSWD ay para po matulungan kayo makapaghanapbuhay. Alam naman po natin na ang COVID-19 ang kalaban natin dito pero kapit lang po mga kababayan ko at malalagpasan din po natin ito,” encouraged Go.
