The current local vehicle sales improved 16.7-percent compared to last year’s first semester. Joint report of the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. and Truck Manufacturers Association logged year-to-date June sales of 154,874 units despite annual inflation rate rise of 6.1 percent.
Last June, 28,601 units were sold compared to 22,550 units sold in the same month in 2021.
Reports said that more sales could have churned out if not for the global health crisis, semiconductor chip woes, war in Europe and skyrocketing fuel prices.
For the first semester, top carmakers in vehicles sales are as follows: Toyota Motor Philippines (80,090 units, 49.79% market share); Mitsubishi Motors Philippines Corporation (20,734 units, 13,39%); Nissan Philippines, Inc. (11,188 units, 7.22%); Suzuki Philippines (9,851 units, 6.36%) and Ford Philippines (8,956 units, 5.78%).
