Manila makes LSR Hall of Fame

Third spot is good enough.

The City of Manila has earned the No.3 rank among local government units (LGU) with the “Highest Locally-Sourced Revenues for Fiscal Year 2021,” Mayor Honey Lacuna bared yesterday.

“Thank you, our stakeholders and businesses, for paying your taxes,” Lacuna said. “Your payments have allowed your government to undertake many projects and programs that give back to communities, especially the poor.”

The ranking was from the Department of Finance’s Bureau of Local Government Finance (DoF-BLGF) list of highest locally sourced revenues (LSR) for provinces, cities, and municipalities.

Manila’s LSR collection for 2021 amounted to P11,566,810 and placed it in the “Highest LSRs Hall of Fame” by BLGF for getting the top spot from 2018 to 2021.

DoF-BLGF ranked LGUs based on the collection efficiency of the LSRs and on year-in-year growth.

LSRs are the revenues collected by the LGUs from business tax, real property tax, regulatory fees, and other taxes imposed on businesses and other enterprises.

Topping the 2021 list were Quezon City with P22,915,970 and Makati City with P13,777,250. Fourth to fifth in this order after third-ranking Manila were Taguig (P10,753,580) and Pasig (P8,693,270).
