The Bureau of Immigration on Monday announced the arrest of an American wanted in the United States for alleged crimes committed against minors.
BI officer-in-charge Rogelio Gevero Jr. identified the arrested suspect as 35-year-old Tye Braxton Stiger. The American was arrested along Diego Cera Ave in Las Piñas City by the BI Fugitive Search Unit on Saturday.
Gevero issued the mission order to take in Stiger after receiving information from US authorities on the criminal charges he is facing back home. Stiger’s passport had been revoked by the US Embassy.
Stiger has an outstanding warrant of arrest issued by the City of Jonesville, Hillsdale County, Michigan in July this year for 35 counts of child pornography-related charges in violation of Michigan laws.
He was accused of preying on children over a six-year period as a volunteer Sunday school teacher on local charges.
Stiger was said to have placed hidden cameras at various sites to take videos of minors in compromising positions.
Gevero said the arrest of the American removed yet another predator that could have preyed on Filipino minors.
The BI chief said they received an order from Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla to arrest foreign pedophiles and other fugitives so they can be deported immediately.
Remulla met with US law enforcement officials earlier this month to discuss improving collaboration in the fight against cybercrimes, including the sexual exploitation of women and children online.
Stiger was detained at the BI warden’s facility in Camp Bagong Diwa, Taguig pending his deportation proceedings.
