The Covid-19 pandemic has kindled Ken Chan’s entrepreneurial spirit.
In just three years, the 29-year-old GMA Network actor-singer successfully opened a health and wellness clinic called Aromagicare, a gasoline station named iFuel, and a Christmas-inspired restaurant, Café Claus, along Tandang Sora Avenue Quezon City.
Café Claus has branches in Greenhills, Eastwood and Tagaytay.
In a media conference, Chan said the sense of uncertainty caused by the pandemic persuaded him to think of other ways to make a living.
He was worried: “What if mawala ’yung showbiz? What if dumating ang panahon na mawala ako sa showbusiness?”
Fortunately, he had a knack for business — a trait he inherited from his parents who were entrepreneurs.
He has not stopped looking for more things to do. In the near future, Chan said, he wants to open an intimate bar.
“Hopefully this year or the next,” he mused.
Chan bared his feelings during the quarantine period in his new single titled “Quaranfling.”
Written by Lolito Go Jr., the track is a love story that blossomed amid the raging virus.
“We saw that in spite of what was happening, there are silver linings like time and love for myself, my family and for a special someone,” Chan said.
He’s grateful to GMA for giving him another opportunity to make music. He previously recorded “1 Like” in 2019.
“I’m looking forward to making more songs on GMA Music. Performing them in concert is something I also want,” Chan said.
He has also appeared in the series Mano Po: Her Big Boss and the variety show All-Out Sundays.
