Sen. Bong Go, in coordination with the Department of Social Welfare and Development, extended assistance to microentrepreneurs in Alimodian, Iloilo on Wednesday, 17 August.
Held at the Barangay Buhay covered court, Go’s staff handed out snacks and masks to 100 microentrepreneurs. In addition, they gave away bicycles, phablets and new pairs of shoes to select individuals.
Furthermore, a team from the DSWD provided livelihood grants through its Sustainable Livelihood Program to give the residents a chance to start a small business that may help sustain their daily needs.
“Ang SLP-LAG po na programa ng DSWD ay para po matulungan kayo makapaghanapbuhay. Alam naman po natin na ang COVID-19 ang kalaban natin dito pero kapit lang po mga kababayan ko at malalagpasan din po natin ito,” encouraged Go.
Go, who serves as Chair of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography, offered additional assistance to those with health concerns as part of his commitment to providing Filipinos better access to quality healthcare services. He advised the beneficiaries and their loved ones to visit any of the four Malasakit Centers in the province if they need medical aid.
The previous day, 16 August, Go’s team provided similar assistance to microentrepreneurs in Leon and Sara, Iloilo.
