Bomb expert bares corruption in NPA

A bomb expert operating for the New People’s Army-Southern Mindanao Regional Committee (SMRC) in Davao de Oro bared that there is a “rampant corruption” inside the communist armed movement.

In an interview with military forces, alias “Delmar,” 28, said the rampant corruption and lack of financial support from his previous committee urged him to “voluntarily” surrender to the 25th Infantry Battalion under the 10th Infantry “Agila” Division on 16 Aug. in Monkayo town, Davao De Oro.

Delmar is responsible for producing Improvised explosive devices for the NPA’s bombing and landmine operations in the Davao Region.

25IB Commanding Officer Lt. Col. Michael Aquino, said the military’s intensified intelligence efforts and relentless combat operations made Delmar yield to government forces.

Also, Delmar’s ill-fated life in the mountains and the financial constraints of his family, while he was working with the NPA, has also pushed him to embrace the government’s offer of a better and renewed life.

Delmar is just like any other former NPA rebel who have seen the greatness of living outside the warzone, thus deciding to give up the “senseless” armed revolution.

With this, 10ID Commander MGen Nolasco A Mempin lauded the 25IB and 1001st Infantry Brigade for their aggressive efforts in ensuring that all remaining CTG members in Davao de Oro will be urged to surrender to the government forces.

In June this year, government forces declared Davao de Oro free from the claws of the communist rebels, following the dismantling of 8 full-blown NPA guerilla fronts operating in the province.
