A gun-toting man was hauled off to jail by police officers on Friday as a threat to the community in Malabon City.
Malabon police chief P/Col. Albert Barot identified the arrested suspect as Roel Hersano, 40, jobless and a resident of Barangay Potrero. He was arrested while wandering the streets at around 5:30 a.m.
Personnel of the above-mentioned barangay tipped off the police about the presence of an armed man, prompting elements of the station intelligence section led by P/Lt. Richel Sinel and P/Lt. Mark Xyrus Santos to respond with their men.
When collared, Hersano was carrying a caliber 38 revolver for which he could not provide documents of legal ownership and possession.
But even if the gun had the requisite licenses, Hersano would have still landed in jail for brandishing the weapon in public.
The police surrounded Hersano before disarming him of the revolver loaded with six bullets.
He would be charged with violating Republic Act 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition Act.
