Gumain slope protection completed

FLORIDABLANCA, Pampanga — The 110.88-lineal-meter slope protection along Gumain River in Barangay Cabangcalan was recently completed to prevent water overflow in nearby residences.

Department of Public Works and Highways Regional Office 3 director Roseller Tolentino disclosed that the P19.58-million project funded under the 2022 General Appropriations Act, adding that the DPWH Pampanga Second District Engineering Office oversaw the implementation of the said project.

Tolentino cited that the newly-built slope protection is connected to existing river walls along the waterways of Gumain River.

With the additional slope protection, lives and properties of residents near the river are now better protected from possible water overflow during heavy rains.

The reduction of flooding in the area is also seen to boost local businesses in Barangay Cabangcalan and the Floridablanca Eco Park in Barangay San Pedro, which is located in the opposite bank of the river.
