The Gamefowl Affiliates of Pitmasters-Philippines yesterday batted for the return of e-Sabong or online cockfighting under clear -cut guidelines from the government.
GAPP Batangas president Fermin Solis said that the industry has a very big potential not only as a revenue generator for the government but as a source of livelihood for many Filipinos.
Solis said that with the professionalization of e-Sabong, veterinaries, feed suppliers and other stakeholders can generate income for themselves and for the government.
Maw Acierto, the president of GAPP Bulacan, said e-Sabong bettors should be taught to participate responsibly instead of treating the hobby as gambling.
In a press conference, the various chapter officials of GAPP said the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation has been keen on setting up an independent regulator for the game.
Pagcor said that before it was ordered stopped by then -President Rodrigo Duterte due to the disappearances of some e-Sabong bettors, the game raked in P640 million a month in earnings for the government or a total of P2.03 billion in the first half of the year.
