‘Florita’ onslaught closes major roads

The Department of Public Works and Highways announced on Wednesday that there are major roads in Luzon that are currently closed due to landslides, fallen trees, and flooding due to the onslaught of tropical storm “Florita.”

The agency’s Bureau of Maintenance said that seven national roads were deemed unpassable while six roads in Cordillera Administrative Region and one in Cagayan Valley Region were also reported closed.

It also noted that due to high water elevation, the Cabagan-Sta. Maria Road, Cabagan Overflow Bridge in Isabela is also closed to all vehicles.

A total of 990 personnel from DPWH CAR, Regions 1 and 2, along with 117 equipment have been deployed to ensure the swift clearing and reopening of affected national roads and bridges.

The DPWH has yet to assess the cost on the damaged roads.
