CANDELARIA, Zambales — The Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources has awarded this town P2 million as prize money and a plaque of recognition for winning the regional level of the 2020 Malinis at Masaganang Karagatan Search for Outstanding Coastal Community.

The awarding was recently held at the Candelaria covered court in Baranggay Uacon with Mayor Byron Jones Edquilang receiving the award from BFAR Central Luzon Director Wilfredo Cruz and Fisheries Management Regulatory and Enforcement Chief Neil Kenneth Catibog.

The MMK Search for Outstanding Coastal Community is an award given to coastal municipalities or cities that have outstanding initiatives and contributions to sustainable fisheries management.

Meanwhile, BFAR also continued with the distribution of fuel discount cards to eligible fisherfolk-beneficiaries of this province in a caravan held in the same area.
