Man wanted for rape nabbed after 7 years

The National Bureau of Investigation yesterday announced the arrest of one Rafael Labustan Lim, alias Raffy, for four counts of statutory rape of a 10-year-old girl.

Lim was nabbed through an alias warrant of arrest served by operatives of the NBI special operations group in Sta. Cruz, Manila.

The operation stemmed from the complaint filed by the victim’s mother that the suspect in the rape of her daughter seven years ago has already been identified.

The NBI conducted surveillance on the suspect and arrested him after verifying that the alias warrant was still in effect.

Lim is facing charges of violating Section 5(b) of Republic Act 7610, the law providing added protection for children.

Statutory rape, in relation to RA 7610, penalizes an accused who engaged in sex or lascivious conduct with a minor or who caused the prostitution of a child, whether male or female.
