Our resident “Barbie Girl,” Myrna Tang Yao, recently celebrated her birthday at Chef Jessie in Rockwell! The party was themed “Barbie World” with a pink-and-red color motif and dress code.
Expectedly, the party was fun and lively. The theme was very her, as the pink color represents her nurturing, playful, and nostalgic qualities, just like Barbie as a doll and in real life!
She shared in her People of the Year Award feature story in another publication that she resonates with Barbie, as both of them are in the mission of breaking barriers and representing women empowerment and diversity. Indeed Barbie has come a long way from being deemed just a fashion doll.
Myrna’s long-time love for Barbie was what urged her to bring the sophisticated and stylish doll to the country. For the past few decades, the same fondness is the secret to her success in ensuring that Barbie, in her various roles and outfits, has been available to our little girls. Myrna shows no signs as well of stopping in bringing in her other brands and working for her civic causes.
A multi-awarded and successful entrepreneur, an active philanthropist, and founder of several organizations plus a mother and homemaker, Myrna is an insatiably curious and driven woman who has touched the lives of those around her, including many Filipino women and children.
It’s no doubt all her friends showed up to celebrate such an amazing woman! Among the special guests was Sen. Imee Marcos. Everyone enjoyed each other’s company, the live music and as usual, the exquisite set menu one can only expect from Chef Jessie.
Thank you for having me, dearest Myrna! We love you and wish you many more years of success and inspiration. Cheers!
