Social media connects billions of people around the world, but still someone can miss something.
American actress and former Fox News commentator Stacey Lauretta Dash, co-star of Alicia Silverstone in the 1995 comedy movie Clueless, only recently learned the death of rapper DMX.
In her Instagram post, Dash, 55, said she was heartbroken.
“I’m ashamed. I didn’t know DMX died. I didn’t know,” the rapper’s avid fan said in her post, New York Daily News reported.
DMX died of a heart attack triggered by drug overdose in April 2021. He was 50.
On 23 August, an agent of the Indigenous Affairs Agency of Brazil found the body of a man in a hammock outside a straw hut in Tanaru jungle, Rondonia state. The deceased whose name is unknown was believed to be 60 years old.
Indigenous expert Marcelo dos Santos said the man had probably died 40 to 50 days before his body was found, BBC News reported.
It was not only the lateness of the body’s discovery and the obscure identity of the dead man that was so intriguing. The cause of his death and the language he spoke were unknown.
Further, the man was familiar to the agency’s staff based only on a video footage secretly recorded by an anthropologist in 2018 showing him hacking a tree with an improvised ax.
All relatives of the man were killed in 1995 by suspected encroachers and he had lived alone since then, subsisting on planted banana, cassava, corn and papaya, as well as wild boar.
The government also restricted entry to the over 8,000-hectare Tanaru territory since 1998 to protect his life. That isolated him for 26 years.
The so-called Man of the Hole, because he dug deep holes for either hiding or trapping animals, was the last remaining member of an uncontacted indigenous group in Brazil, according to BBC News, citing officials’ statement.
