Will the real oppo stand up?

I chanced upon the group photo shared by Teddy Baguilat when he attended the gathering of Liberal Party stalwarts, which include the likes of Frank Drilon, Kiko Pangilinan, Bam Aquino, Erin Tañada, Edcel Lagman, and of course LP chairperson Leni Robredo.

And the very question that comes to mind seeing this bunch is perhaps the most profound one can reflect upon — “Wala na bang iba?”

I mean if we are to combine the real and genuine contribution of this group to our country in terms of progress and development in the last 30 years, I daresay zilch, zero, nada, or in the vernacular “bokya.”

If at all, this may even be the group which we can credit for our regression and stagnation.

As well as all the current negativity and epalism, plus the never-ending propagandizing and smear campaign.

We only need to look at how badly we have been demanding from our government the need to change and reform, and it is clear why these oppo leaders really suck big time.

We only need to look at the depth and breadth of their incompetence and apathy in the last 30 years, when they were the ones in power.

And when they lost huge in the last three major elections in 2016, 2019 and the most recent one this year, we know they were the ones who tried everything to upset the status quo, and made sure that the people become enraged, confused, disheartened and distrusting of government.

It’s really so easy to see and feel all these destabilizing moves from the oppo, because what happened was the reverse of what they want to accomplish.

Instead of gaining sympathy and the nod of the electorate, the oppo ate millions of dust particles after being trashed completely at the polls. The people soundly rejected them and all that they stood for, and even went against their celebrity endorsers.

It was such a huge and profound statement of, ironically, Never Again by the Filipino.

Never again shall we trust these group of inept Liberal leaders. Never again shall we believe in them, knowing how grossly incapable they are of leading our country. Never again shall we put them in positions of power, because we have experienced them at their worst, and that is already the best of them.

And so, we go back to the question — Wala na bang iba?

It’s time that this country sees a new breed of leaders who can truly be an opposition. It’s time for new faces to emerge from the sidelines. It’s time for new ideas to flourish. And, it’s high time to demand for a more credible opposition, one who can criticize constructively and offer better alternatives.

It’s time for a new set of oppo who would want to upset the status quo by means of showing that there is a better way of doing things.

And it’s time now to make Leni and company irrelevant, especially when they failed so miserably to capture and captivate our attention and vote.

Wala na bang iba?

Dapat meron na.
