It’s good to be different.
In Mimiyuuu’s case, it’s not only his quirky personality, dance numbers and mukbang videos that make him stand out among other social media personalities.
What truly sets the 25-year-old vlogger, fashion designer and comedian apart is his “V”-shaped middle tooth, which resembles a fang.
Recently, he posted on Instagram a photo of his younger self sporting a skinhead look. “Seventh birthday po ’to ni Bebe (his younger sister) at sobrang saya po namin niyan, pero hindi ako makangiti nang todo kasi na-i-insecure po ako sa pangil ko sa gitna,” he wrote.
Born Jeremy Sancebuche, he added that, in most of his old photos, he couldn’t break into a smile due to his “fang.” But that’s all behind him now — since he can now beam or grin without being conscious.
“My smile makes me ME-miyuuuh,” he said.
If he’s smiling a lot these days, it probably has to do with his being one of the new brand ambassadors of toothpaste brand Colgate.
“I’m happy there’s a toothpaste that represents us all,” he said at the launch of Colgate Optic White O2 on 14 September — pointing out that most toothpaste ads show models with a perfect set of teeth.
Mimiyuuuh went on to recall that, as a kid, he was bullied for having a dinosaur-like tooth.
He said he’s “super thankful” to his family na “super love nila ako na kahit ganito yung ipin ko, kahit bading po ako, so I don’t really need to prove anything to other people as long as masaya po kami.”
“They’re proud of who I am,” he added.
As a parting shot, he said he’s not Mimiyuuuh without his middle tooth.
Quite simply, it’s a statement full of self-love and acceptance.
