Tagaytay taste fest takes off

Savour: The Ultimate Taste Fest of Metro Tagaytay, is finally back in action. The annual food-tasting event that brings a unique gastronomical experience to its audiences was brought to life once more by The Glens Tagaytay and PEAK, the Tagaytay Wedding Vendors Association on 18 September.

The Glens offered a grand and spacious garden setting for the sumptuous food showcased at the fair’s comeback. An events place established by Jason Jalandoni, it was easily reached from Manila in leas than two hours.

On spotlight were five of the topnotch caterers in the country — Bizu, Hizon’s, Juan Carlo, Richgold Weddings, and Town’s Delight. These five master caterers met with five judges who critiqued the main dishes and desserts that they presented.

The catch was the dishes were presented anonymously, which made the judges completely oblivious to which caterer the dishes belonged to. Two of the candidates won the competition fair and square in the categories Best Main Dish and Best Dessert.

The Savour Choice Award 2022 for the Main Dish went to Juan Carlo for its dish called Pedestal, using salmon as the star of the show and using ingredients that were sourced in Tagaytay. Juan Carlo Rosario, the assistant vice president of Juan Carlo, said they named the dish Pedestal because they wanted to elevate Filipino ingredients and show that the our products can compete in the world.

Meanwhile, the Best Dessert category went unsurprisingly to Bizu, with its dessert extravaganza platter. At the base of the plate, a soft chocolate bar was topped with strawberry macaron and two whipped creams alongside juicy strawberries and a bite of a sweet, ripened mango. It truly was a work of art.

All five caterers presented equally beautiful creations, but the two winners definitely deserved their victory for the uniqueness of the taste and the presentation.

Tagaytay’s best

Savour 2022 hit two birds with one stone because it allowed PEAK to showcase the different event suppliers of Tagaytay in the mini bridal fair it organized. The events industry in Tagaytay truly is back from its hiatus due to the onslaught of the pandemic, and PEAK is ready to serve once more.

Marilyz Milan, owner of HillCreek Gardens, confidently said that the suppliers in Tagaytay can easily do what those in Metro Manila can. Francis Sy-Changco, owner of Mahogany Place, said Tagaytay is perfect for all the special moments in your life — chilly weather, a great environment, and clean air.

Meanwhile, Joey Espiritu, owner of Tent King and many more businesses, said you are in great hands with PEAK because of how kind and generous the suppliers are, especially the board members, who once upon a time also helped him with his business that started with only a P3,000 capital.

So if you plan on celebrating a milestone in your life, consider Tagaytay City — it won’t disappoint.
