More PDLs to be set free

The Department of Justice is in the process of reviewing the cases of persons deprived of liberty which were originally pushed for clemency of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr..

The list of 301 PDLs was returned by the Office of the President to the Department of Justice who have been recommended for executive clemency.

Public Attorney’s Office Chief Persida V. Acosta yesterday said that despite the delay due to established processes more PDLs will be freed starting 25 October.

The list of PDLs approved by DoJ Secretary Jesus Crispin C. Remulla and submitted to the OP during the 13 September birthday of PBBM was returned to the DoJ.

Acosta said they are in the process of reviewing the recommendation that was previously sent to the Palace and the paper was returned to legal.

She had earlier appealed to the OP to approve those recommended for release most of whom are elderly and ailing PDLs.
