Bong Go sends assistance to indigents in Baliuag, Bulacan

Sen. Bong Go’s team mounted a relief operation in Baliuag, Bulacan on Monday, 10 October.

In his video message during the activity at the Star Arena, the senator once again honored the five rescuers from Bulacan who sacrificed their own lives in the line of service during the onslaught of Super Typhoon Karding.

As part of his commitment to create a more disaster-resilient nation, the senator emphasized the need for eligible government workers, regardless of their status of employment, to be entitled to hazard pay and other benefits especially when they put their lives at risk to save their fellow Filipinos.

“Panahon na po na pag-aralan natin na magkaroon tayo ng batas na bigyan sila ng hazard pay at security of tenure. Kapag po may mga namatay, pamilya po nila agad ang kawawa. Dapat po mayro’n silang proteksyon at benepisyo na dapat matanggap dahil nasa panganib po ang kanilang buhay,” reiterated Go.

Meanwhile, the senator’s team distributed masks and snacks to 498 indigents and provided bicycles, cellular phones, shoes, and balls for basketball to select individuals.

The Department of Social Welfare and Development, in turn, provided financial assistance to help the residents recovery from crisis situations.
