When will
ABS-CBN’s youth series Tara, G!, which is seen on iWantTFC, show its main characters interacting with the indigenous people of Benguet, where most of the scenes are set?
October is National Indigenous People’s Month, as well as National Galleries and Museums Month.
The National Commission on Culture and the Arts is extending its commemorative activities related to indigenous people till the first week of November.
The National Indigenous People’s celebration is dubbed Dayaw Festival.
NCCA executive director Oscar Casaysay said at the opening ceremonies: “Dayaw affords Filipinos to show pride with dignity, most especially the indigenous people from different regions of the country. It is also a way of upholding cultural communities for a robust economy.”
The annual festival is held in different parts of the country, highlighting creativity, fortitude, and power.
This year, the National Capital Region is hosting a program on 23 to 24 October, with cultural presentations at the Rizal Park Amphitheater on the 23rd, and a forum on the 24th at the Manila Metropolitan Theater.
Some of the interesting performances on opening day included a presentation of “Binalog” from the Panay Bukidnon community of Calinog, Iloilo.
“Binalog” comes from the word “banog” or hawk, which shows in the birdlike movements of the dance.
The Manobo Talaandig group of Mindanao also presented its version of the dance.
On 3 to 4 November, the Visayas will hold its own Dayaw in Bacolod City.
Dayaw Mindanao will be held on 7 to 8 November in Koronadal.
‘Team WISE’
Tara, G! is about a group of friends who call themselves Team WISE (Walang Iwanan Sa Ere) as they navigate life’s challenges and triumphs.
Director Cathy Camarillo said she fell in love with the new concept of friendships Tara, G! depicts, with the characters’ efforts to protect their community.
The series highlights Filipino values through the connection of the characters to the fictional hometown, La Guerta, where they grow coffee for export.
Tara, G! features Anthony Jennings, Kaori Oinuma, JC Alcantara, Vivoree, Zach Castaneda, CJ Salonga, and Daniela Stranner.
The series streams worldwide, with a new episode every Friday at 8 p.m. (Manila time), free in the Philippines on the iWantTFC app (iOs and Android) and website iwanttfc.com.
Viewers can get easy access to iWantTFC’s content library with its “watch now, no registration needed” feature.
