President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. has selected National Telecommunications Commission chief Gamaliel Cordoba as the new chairperson of the Commission on Audit.
This was announced by the Supreme Court Public Information Office on Friday, adding that Chief Justice Alexander Gesmundo administered Cordoba’s oath of office earlier in day.
The Office of the Press Secretary has yet to confirm the appointment of Cordoba or to publish his appointment paper.
Cordoba succeeds former solicitor general Jose Calida, who resigned from his post after a short stint. He has been an NTC commissioner since the administrations of former presidents Gloria Macapagal Arroyo and Rodrigo Duterte. He also served as a Board Member of the Philippine Amusement and Gaming Corporation.
Calida, meanwhile, served as Solicitor General under the administration of Mr. Duterte, as justice undersecretary, and as executive director of the Dangerous Drugs Board under Mrs. Arroyo.
