PALO, Leyte — The Police Regional Office 8 declared the visit of President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. in Eastern Visayas to attend three major events as peaceful despite complaints from some media of a disorganized coverage.
PRO 8, in a post event assessment, said that except for slight traffic congestion confusion from the rerouting scheme there were no significant incidents recorded since it declared a full alert in the whole region last 14 October.
To recall, Marcos led the inauguration of the Spark San Juanico: Aesthetic Light and Sound Show Lights Up Ceremony on 19 October and the guest of honor in the 78th Leyte Gulf Landings Celebration and 75th Ormoc City Charter Day on 20 October.
The Philippine National Police, along with the Armed Forces of the Philippines and Presidential Security Guard, made the security plan and undertook police operations and security-related activities.
Aside from the President, the events were also attended by high-ranking government officials, foreign dignitaries, other VIPs and guests who also came to witness said ceremonies.
“I wish to thank all the commanders and personnel who composed all the PNP contingents in the deployment and augmentation made by this PRO for the above purpose,” said PRO 8 regional director PBGen. Rommel Francisco Marbil.
“We also congratulate all leaders and organizers for their equal efforts and hardwork. We are blessed that everything turned out well and peaceful,” he added.
