The Organization of Socialized and Economic Housing Developers of the Philippines recently conducted the OSHDP Affordable Housing Summit 2022 in Bohol province which aims to find ways to address the housing crisis in the country.
National Home Mortgage Finance Corporation president Renato Tobias — who was the keynote speaker — expressed his firm commitment to contribute to the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development’s “Pambansang Pabahay Para sa Pilipino: Zero ISF 2028 Program.”
Under the leadership of DHSUD Secretary Jose Rizalino “Jerry” Acuzar, the government’s housing sector aims to build one million homes per year over a period of six years, and Tobias said that the NHMFC’s support to DHSUD’s Zero Informal Settlers 2028 Program is through its Housing Loan Receivables Purchase Program or HLRPP.
“This is NHMFC’s allocation of a liquidity facility for housing originators to ensure continuous production of affordable housing units,” Tobias said. “The NHMFC’s unique role as the government’s primary secondary institution serves the Filipinos by catering to the most pressing needs of our nation — a safe, decent, sustainable and affordable housing for the Filipino families.”
He also stressed the need to build not just affordable and decent homes, but to build homes that can withstand natural disasters.
