Internationally acclaimed movies at QCinema

The 10th QCinema International Film Festival, to be held 17 to 26 November, will open with Ruben Östlund’s Triangle of Sadness, which won the Palme d’Or at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival.

Triangle of Sadness features Filipino actor Dolly de Leon in a breakout role as Abigail, a toilet manager in a yacht cruise who takes over as leader when the yacht sinks during a storm.

This year’s festival, dubbed “in10city,” will hold screenings at Gateway, TriNoma, Powerplant, Cinema 76, and SM North Edsa.

Closing the festival is Mihai Mincan’s Venice Film Festival entry, To the North, starring another Filipino actor, Soliman Cruz.

On the Job: The Missing 8.

Meanwhile, On the Job: The Missing 8 is currently screening at select Ayala Cinemas until 8 November.

Directed by Erik Matti, it premiered at the 2021 Venice International Film Festival and won the Volpi Cup Best Actor for John Arcilla.

It has been submitted as Philippine entry to the Best International Feature at the 95th Academy Awards in March 2023.

Matti posted on Facebook: “There is nothing like watching the nuances of the characters on the big screen and the epic, sprawling political landscape of the town of La Paz that is as timely as current headlines.”

On the Job: The Missing 8 is showing at Ayala Malls Manila Bay, Glorietta 4, Circuit Makati, TriNoma, Market Market, Ayala Malls Feliz, Marquee Mall Pampanga, and Capitol Central Bacolod.
