Makati cited Urban Governance awards

The city government of Makati was cited in the 2022 Urban Governance Exemplar Awards for its various programs and initiatives focusing to improve the lives of its citizens and increasing awareness of the public about climate change and other social and environmental issues.

The awards which were spearheaded by the Department of the Interior and Local Government, lauded the city government for taking first place in the 2022 Assessment of Local Government UnIts (LGUs) Compliance with the Manila Bay Clean-Up Rehabilitation and Preservation Program.

Makati City was also lauded for the high audit rating of its Peace and Order Council, Anti-Drug Abuse Council, and Local Committee on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and Children. It is also the top performer in its Informal Settler Families Cluster and Liquid Waste Management Cluster.

The DILG said the city has an overall compliance rating of 98.07 percent in the MBCRPP, 100 percent in its Liquid Waste Management, 96.67 percent in its Solid Waste Management, 100 percent in its Informal Settler Families, and 95.33 percent in its Information, Education, and Communication and Institutional Arrangement Cluster.

Makati Mayor Abby Binay received the P300,000 cash price for the achievement of the city aside from the five awards.

“We are so proud to stand on stage and receive these awards. These are reflections of the proper governance of the city government and our good relationship with our investors and businessmen in Makati,” Binay said.

Binay thanked ProudMakatizens for their cooperation, trust, and support as the prosperity of the local economy and success of important projects are in their hands and they cannot achieve the recognition it not for them.

The city government has earlier received three awards from the Department of Finance’s Bureau of Local Government Finance for being one of the top performing local government units in the country in terms of revenue generation in 2021.

Binay said the city has been recognized as the Top 2 performing LGU in the country and Top 2 performing city in Metro Manila based on the 2021 highest locally sourced revenues.

Makati was also recognized as a Local Revenue Generation Hall of Famer based on the highest locally sourced revenues from 2018 to 2020.

According to the BLGF, Makati’s locally sourced revenue in 2021 amounted to P13,777,253,256.
