Release of ‘The first Responders’ poster excites K-drama fans

Why are K-drama fans excited about the release of The First Responders’ official poster?

The reason is quite simple — they’ll feast their eyes on the stars of the coming series prior to its premiere on 12 November.

Composing the cast of The First Responders — a drama about members of the police force, fire department and paramedic team in South Korea — are Kim Rae-won, Son Ho-jun, and Gong Seung-yeon.
Kim, 41, spent several years playing various roles in a number of TV series before earning critical acclaim on the 2014 legal thriller Punch. He shed 15 kilograms for his role as a gangster in the 2015 movie Gangnam Blues, after which he appeared in the highly-rated medical drama Doctors. He starred in the 2017 hit movie The Prison.

Son, 38, appeared in the drama Coffee House before entering mandatory military stardom in the 1994 drama Reply. His stints in the reality shows Youth Over Flowers and Three Meals a Day: Fishing Village were well-received. In 2019 he gained critical praise in drama series The Light in Your Eyes.

Gong, 29, gained notice in the historical drama Six Flying Dragons and went on to win as New Star at the SBS Drama Awards. She was cast in her first leading role on the 2017 Netflix series My Only Love Song.

The First Responders will have Kim playing Inspector Jin Ho-gae of a fictional police station’s 8th detective team.

Son will portray Bong Do-jin, a firefighter.

Gong is Song Seol, a paramedic.

The production team said, “The posters capture the individual charms of police officer Jin Ho-gae, firefighter Bong Do-jin, and paramedic Song Seol, who are willing to lay their lives for others.”

The First Responders premieres on 12 November at 10 p.m. KST.
