More flood victims in Misamis Oriental receive aid from Bong Go

Sen. Bong Go had his outreach team mount yet another series of relief operations for more flood victims in the towns of Salay, Medina, Balingoan, Balingasag, Kinoguitan, Lagonglong, and Binuangan on Tuesday, 3 January.

In his video message, the senator has once again stressed the need for the government to create better and stronger coping mechanisms that would effectively address disaster-related incidents in the country.

The lawmaker reiterated his appeal to his colleagues in the Senate to support his proposed Senate Bill No. 188, otherwise known as the Department of Disaster Resilience Act.

Go emphasized the importance of having a focused department that will proactively address calamity-related incidents, considering that the country’s geographical location plus climate change make it prone to weather disturbances, saying, “Bago pa dumating ang bagyo, mayroon na hong makikipag-coordinate sa LGUs, preposition of goods at ilikas po ang mga kababayan natin sa ligtas na lugar.”

“At pag-alis ng bagyo, restoration of normalcy kaagad, maibalik kaagad sa normal ang pamumuhay ng mga kababayan natin. Yan po ang layunin ng Department of Disaster Resilience,” Go added

Held at their respective municipal halls, Go’s personnel handed out grocery packs to a total of 1,400 flood victims while they also gave shirts, umbrellas and balls for basketball to select recipients.
