Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin “Boying” Remulla has an idea who from the Bureau of Immigration was involved in the entry of high-end cellphones inside their jail facility but will deal with it after resolving the deportation of four Japanese linked to 14 robberies in Japan.
Remulla said he wanted the deportation to be done first before they will do an accounting within the department and assured the public those involved will be penalized.
“I have an idea who these people are. I will work them out after the deportation is done. I want the deportation done first before we do our own accounting within the department, but we will make people account for everything after the deportation,” Remulla said.
He explained, “Anybody. We will not spare anybody who was complicit in allowing fugitives from justice to have access to means of communication especially if their business is a fraud, and that is not acceptable to me or to any of us.
In connection with the Japanese nationals: We’re working on them. There will be hearing today (2 February) and there will be hearings tomorrow. I think all of them have been set already and we’re on the way to doing what we sought, set out to do.”
Remulla said “it will be a day-to-day thing, thus they cannot promise, anything by today, or by tomorrow, or by Saturday, by Sunday, by Monday — but we’re trying our best to get things done. That’s what we do here, we work everyday.”
There was a hearing yesterday at Pasay RTC, Remulla said.
The hearing is for Watanabi and Saitu, but Remulla said he doesn’t have the details, but his people will report to him about what is happening.” I know there is a hearing today and there will be hearings also in the different courts and prosecution offices throughout the country that involved the four persons that we’re seeking to deport in the soonest possible time.”
