More than 2.5 million residents of Bulacan province have registered with the Philippine Identification System of the Philippine Statistics Authority to obtain a National Identification.
The figure comprises 74 percent of the Bulacan’s population based on the 2020 Census of the PSA, according to PSA Bulacan Registration Officer Len Nacion.
Out of the 2.5 million who registered with Philsys, 697,943 have already been issued with the PhilSys or National ID delivered to them by the Philippine Postal Corporation.
Those who received their physical ID are the ones who registered from February 2020 until July 2022.
Meanwhile, a total 327,901 registrants were given temporary IDs or the electronic PhilID via their barangay.
PSA is providing the E-PhilID version so registrants can already utilize it for various public transactions while 1.4-million E-PhilIDs are being processed.
PSA Bulacan Statistical Specialist Cristy Lopez said that financial institutions such as banks and cooperatives affirms the validity of the PhilSys ID and the E-PhilID as a government ID. This is in line with Memorandum 2022-044 of the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas that orders financial institutions to accept such ID.
BSP Memorandum 2021-057 also obligates all government agencies and the private sector to accept the said IDs for transactions.
Nacion said the PSA did not include the signature of users in the ID to prevent it from being forged.
Currently, the PSA is revising the PhilSys Integration Plan wherein the agency is organizing the features and protocols for the use of the PhilSys ID for transactions with various government agencies such as the integration of the GWAPS of the Government Service Insurance System, UMID ID of the Social Security System, and PhilHealth Card.
