Supported by the Department of Trade and Industry, Informa Markets successfully launched the physical comeback of ProPak Philippines in Manila this 2023 with more than 250 exhibitors from across the globe.
ProPak Philippines is an international trade fair that showcases up-to-date technology on packaging, and processing or manufacturing. Over 250 packaging companies from 25 countries participated in this year’s exhibit on 1 to 3 February at the World Trade Center, Manila.
“The Philippines has been steadily showing strong and dynamic growth across its industries due to rising incomes, growing consumer demands, and increasing export potential. ProPak Philippines will stand to serve as the venue where business opportunities emerge,” said Ian Roberts, Vice President of Informa Markets-Asia.
The expo features reputable companies involved in processing and packaging machineries, showcasing the latest materials, and technology for filing, bottling, quality-assurance, testing, measurement, and maintenance. This also features virtual and hybrid business-to-business matching that connects to online supplier platform and content hubs with marketing activities, sourcing, networking, demonstrations, and sustainable innovative solutions.
Regional Operations Group Undersecretary Bles Lantayona read the message of DTI Secretary Fred Pascual during the opening ceremony of the third installation of ProPak Philippines. Pascual said that “with the growing number of e-commerce platforms in the country and the growth of MSMEs, this event will become an entrepreneurial asset and a game-changer on how Filipino MSMEs present their products in the global market. Innovation in packaging will for sure contribute in making Filipino-made products strong in the global market.”
In 2018, the DTI pushed for innovative packaging and branding for MSMEs through “Pack! Pinas”, a packaging roadshow program that aimed to help entrepreneurs learn the latest market trends and opportunities in product development and packaging solutions through various programs such as seminars and trade fairs. The initiative was supported by the MSMED Council, Design Center of the Philippines, Philippine Trade Training Center, Department of Science and Technology, Food and Drug Administration, and private sector partners.
The DTI also made sure that packaging solutions for MSMEs are integrated in its programs such as One Town One Product, Shared Service Facilities, and Fabrication Laboratories. The PTTC, DTI’s training arm, also provides capacity-building trainings and workshops in partnership with Negosyo Centers across the country.
The DTI reiterates its support to ProPak Philippines and ProPak Asia by participating in ProPak Asia in Bangkok this 2023. Last June 2022, DTI-Regional Operations Group led the Philippine delegation of over 200 MSMEs to ProPak Asia in Bangkok, Thailand.
