AirAsia Philippines announced on Monday that the airline is returning to its key economic hubs in China to revitalize business and other essential travel while waiting for the full reopening of the country to leisure travelers.
According to AirAsia PH, between February and March, the airline is set to operate weekly flights to Guangzhou, Shenzhen, and the special administrative region of Macao.
The airline added that beginning 15 February, all business travelers can now reach the research and innovation city of Guangzhou with three flights weekly, that is, every Monday, Wednesday and Saturday.
Meanwhile, beginning 2 March, essential travelers can now fly to the special economic zone of Shenzhen four times weekly: every Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday.
Passengers flying to these key destinations in China can also enjoy a 10 percent discount from 6 February to 12 February until 25 March 2023.
Likewise, starting 2 March, AirAsia PH will fly again to the Special Administrative Region of Macao with thrice-weekly flights, that is, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Re-opening of China’s borders
AirAsia Chief Executive Officer Ricky Isla said the aviation industry is now really on its way to full recovery. With China re-opening its borders to the world, a new era of tourism, trade and commerce is set to emerge. “As always, AirAsia will be there to ensure passengers get the best value deals as we safely take them to the skies of renewed opportunities. Pre-pandemic, we flew over 750,000 guests to and from China,” Isla said.
