Bong Go emphasizes importance of improving country’s healthcare system

Chair of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography Senator Bong Go renewed his call for stronger government interventions in the health sector as he personally inspected the Super Health Center in Imus City, Cavite on Wednesday, 8 February.

Go lauded the Department of Health and the local government of Imus for their collective efforts to ensure that their constituents have greater access to basic health services.

The senator highlighted several of his health initiatives, such as the establishment of Super Health Centers and Malasakit Centers throughout the country. He then reaffirmed his commitment to helping the government in strengthening the healthcare system, to the best of his ability as Chair of the Senate Committee on Health and Demography.

“Isa talaga sa prayoridad ko bilang senador ay ang palakasin ang ating health sector. The more we should invest sa healthcare system dahil hindi natin alam kung ito lang ang pandemyang darating sa buhay natin. Kaya sa abot ng aking makakaya, asahan niyo na patuloy ako magsusulong ng mga programa na makakatulong sa mga mahihirap,” vowed Go.

Aside from Imus City, there will also be 11 more Super Health Centers that will be established in the province, particularly in the cities of Bacoor, Dasmariñas, General Trias, and Tagaytay, as well as in the towns of Alfonso, Carmona, Magallanes, Tanza, General Mariano Alvarez, Rosario, and Kawit — the last one’s groundbreaking having been personally witnessed by Go last January.

The senator likewise offered to assist poor and indigent patients through the Malasakit Centers located at Southern Tagalog Regional Hospital in Bacoor City, and General Emilio Aguinaldo Memorial Hospital in Trece Martires City.

Go, as Vice Chair of the Senate Committee on Finance, also supported several infrastructure projects and other initiatives in Imus City to help in its development, including the construction of some multipurpose buildings, construction and rehabilitation of roads and drainage in several barangays,

Later that day, Go also personally spearheaded a relief operation for the city’s fire victims and indigents.
