‘Paint and Pixel’ boosts Makati tourism, culture

Makati City Mayor Abby Binay is tapping the potential of digital art in promoting the Museo ng Makati by launching the “Paint to Pixel” exhibit during the National Arts Month.

Supported by the Republic of China and SM Makati, the exhibit features technology-infused art works of known local and natonal artists.
“I firmly believe in the vital role of the art and harnessing creativity for greater good,” Binay said in a message welcoming participants to National Arts Month bearing this year’s theme of “Ani ng Sining, Bunga ng Galing.”

The mayor thanked the embassy of the People’s Republic of China and SM Makati for being the city’s partners to the event.

Itchie Yabut, officer-in-charge of the Museum and Cultural Affairs Office and Office of International Department of Makati City, said “Paint to Pixel” flashes artworks in augmented reality and real format by activating its QR code.

“The museum has a lot of materials for exhibit for this year. With the likes of collection from national artist for cartooning Larry Alcala, exhibit on Jose Rizal by June this year and other national artists of the Philippines,” Yabut said.
