New Maroons training center turned over

The University of the Philippines Fighting Maroons have a spanking-new multi-million-peso Varsity Training Center in their Diliman, Quezon City campus.

The facility — with a total floor area of 1,879 square meters — has been completed by the Department of Public Works and Highways.

DPWH Metro Manila director Loreta Malaluan said the project worth P130 million has already been turned over to the UP management.

“This is a state-of-the-art, research-intensive facility offering a wide range of resources to help UP student-athletes reach their full potential,” Malaluan said.

The sports center has a basketball court, and a fully equipped gym. It also has dedicated spaces for team practices and meetings.

The facility was constructed in three phases starting in 2019, the DPWH said, adding the project was implemented by the DPWH Quezon City 2nd District Engineering Office.
