TARLAC CITY — A total of 47 former rebels were given livelihood assistance worth P20,000 each from the Department of Social Welfare and Development Region 3 under the Sustainable Livelihood Program for former rebels.
The provision of assistance was held at the Bulwagan ng Gobernador, Provincial Capitol, Barangay San Vicente here.
This is the second time that the DSWD has provided assistance to FRs in Tarlac this year. The department recently gave pay-out assistance to eight former rebels in the DSWD Regional Office in San Fernando, Pampanga.
According to Provincial Officer of PSWD Tarlac Robert L. Magno, the program is a result of the active participation and coordination of various government agencies in providing assistance to rebel returnees who are back in the government’s fold.
The government is adamant in providing much needed assistance to these returnees, as last month DSWD 3 doled out benefits via the Enhanced Local Integration Program from the national government.
