Bellevue Hotel and L’Arc En Ciel, a private gallery inside Ayala Alabang, recently repeated their collaboration in presenting selected visual artists from the southern part of the metropolis.
“Amore II,” a Valentine’s art exhibit, opened at the ballroom of Bellevue with the artistic and social set of the Alabang-Paranaque-Las Pinas area in attendance.
Elaine Herbosa welcomed the guests by enjoining them “to encourage and support our talents as they add to the prestige of the villages where they live,” she said. Elaine also thanked the Chan family, who owns Bellevue and who has taken a strong interest in the local art scene.
Leading the artists was internationally renowned Mia Herbosa.
Elaine, the exhibit’s curator and owner of L’Arc En Ciel, shared with the Daily Tribune: “This is a sequel to the first ‘Amore’ — our extravaganza on the month of love here at the Bellevue, the foremost luxury in the South.”
Ryan Chan, who now heads the family hotel chain’s B Hotel, recounted: “Ten years ago, we had a general manager who suggested that we enliven the social-cum-art scene in this part of the metropolis. So, we first came up with a ‘Breakfast in Tiffany’ event,” he said.
Ryan added: “Then, we decided to collaborate with homegrown artists. We partnered with Tita Elaine, who brought in her students who were still very young. They belonged to families who lived in the villages. Thus, the first Amore was born.”
“’Amore II’ signals the resumption of our joint efforts to showcase the best works of our own artists this side of town, right after the pandemic,” Ryan said.
