Go condemns attacks vs local officials

Senator Christopher “Bong” Go on Tuesday expressed strong condemnation of the recent string of attacks against government officials as he called for justice in the killing of Negros Oriental Governor Roel Degamo.

Go, accompanied by actor Philip Salvador and Senators Jinggoy Estrada, Robin Padilla and Bong Revilla, visited the wake of Degamo in Dumaguete City Monday night after the Senate session to personally extend condolences to Degamo’s family.

He also expressed sympathies to the families of the other casualties of the incident and offered help in any way he can.

The Senator also expressed his trust and confidence in law enforcers as they pursue the investigation and restore peace and order in the province.

Earlier that day, he voiced his support for Senate Resolution 517, which was initiated following the assassination of the Negros Oriental governor. Go said that Degamo died while serving his constituents, commending his dedication to public service.

“Governor Degamo died while literally serving his constituents last Saturday. The late governor was there, working for the people of Negros Oriental. He was truly a servant of the people,” expressed Go in his manifestation during the Senate Plenary Session.

He then called on the authorities to pursue and arrest the perpetrators of this heinous crime, reiterating that justice must be served for the family and the people of Negros Oriental.

“There is no place for this kind of violence in a democracy such as the Philippines,” he said.

Also Monday, Go attended the launching of the 156th Malasakit Center at the Ospital ng Lungsod ng San Jose del Monte in San Jose del Monte City in Bulacan.

During the event, Go said that, as the chair of the Senate Committee on Health, his health advocacy remains one of his top priorities, highlighting that the Malasakit Centers program is an important aspect of public healthcare, providing convenient and efficient access to Filipinos who require medical assistance.
